Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante
Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante is considered one of the best-kept secrets in the Light Heavyweight division. Feijão was well on his way to being crowned the Light Heavyweight Champion of the EliteXC organization before it folded. After a brief “vacation,” Feijao is back and fighting in STRIKEFORCE, where he is certain to make his mark.
Feijão has an interesting history: UFC Heavyweight Champion António Rodrigo Nogueira “Minotauro” discovered Feijão during a visit to his hometown in Brazil. When Minotauro asked around for a sparing partner, he was introduced to Feijão. Feijão had been trained by his father in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and holds a Black Belt in the “gentle art.” After a few days of training, Minotauro invited Feijão to join his training camp.
Feijão has since added significant striking skills to his arsenal under the tutelage of UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and increased his abilities by training with the many fighters who belong to Team Nogueira. To be sure, Feijão has a great future in the sport of MMA.
