Xande Ribeiro
Alexandre “Xande” Ribeiro is well known to all Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students and fans. As the younger brother of Saulo Ribeiro, most people are not surprised by his successes, but nothing in life is given to anyone. Xande has worked hard to become a World Jiu Jitsu and ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion.
Xande was born in Manaus, Brazil, where he began to study Jiu Jitsu under the Monteiro brothers the age of 10. In 1999, Xande moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he joined the Gracie Humaitá Academy run by Royler Gracie. In 2001, at the age of 20, Xande received his Black Belt.
A year later, he moved to Toledo, Ohio to open Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu with Chris Blanke. After 3 years, his brother Saulo joined him and in 2007, both Xande and Saulo moved to San Diego, CA where they now run the University of Jiu Jitsu.
Xande entered the world of Mixed Martial Arts in 2008, fighting in the Sengoku organization, where he won his first fight by TKO. While he is excited by the competitive world of MMA, Xande has no plans to give up on Jiu Jitsu and Submission Grappling. You can expect to see him competing in all three sports over the next several years.
